Jul 5, 2010Frontier Airlines Announces Winning Name for BadgerBuddy flies away with top honors
MILWAUKEE, July 05, 2010 -
Frontier Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Republic Airways
Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: RJET), today announced the name of the badger
gracing the tail of its newest 99-seat Embraer 190 aircraft. And the
winner is … Buddy.
From May 28 through July 4, more than 15,000 Wisconsin residents voted
online and at Milwaukee’s Summerfest for Bella, Buddy or Cookie.
Frontier Airlines narrowed the list to those three names after receiving
thousands of name suggestions from frequent flyers and others.
Buddy joins a talented cast of animals adorning Frontier planes and
appearing in the airline’s advertising. To learn more about the popular
“spokesanimals,” visit FrontierAirlines.com/animal-tales.
Milwaukee’s Midwest Airlines is in the process of combining with
Frontier to operate under the Frontier brand name. Frontier and Midwest
will continue to integrate technology in the coming months; during this
time customers are reminded to continue checking in with the operating
airline for their flight. For more information and to track the progress
of the integration, visit FrontierMidwest.com.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Buddy to the Frontier family,” said Ian
Arthur, vice president of marketing and branding. “Our badger aircraft
is a great way to honor the Wisconsin roots of Midwest Airlines – and to
show that we offer a truly different and better flying experience.”
One person will be chosen at random from all Wisconsin residents who
voted to receive a $1,000 Fly Bucks card to be used toward travel on
Frontier Airlines. Ten runners-up will receive $50 Fly Bucks cards.
